iHologram - a beautiful 3D application for iPhone

The application works by assuming a constant viewing angle (35-45 degrees), typical for when the device is placed on a tabletop.

The 3d scene's perspective is then warped using anamorphic perspective, making the object appear to jump off the screen.

KDDI's Concept Cellphone is Half Transformer, Half Musical Box

Japan's KDDI AU Design Project has a fresh batch of concept devices on display in Tokyo. Perhaps the most intriguing of the bunch is a phone called the Box To Play. The sleek concept phone combines a cell phone (with all the normal calling and camera features you'd expect) along with a sort of music device which appears to include a tiny embedded turntable that allows you to scratch the music playing on the phone.

In addition to the music features, the phone also plays with design by transforming into a box with a graphic music interface. Still photos and colorful descriptions simply can't do justice to how cool this phone looks.

Kuchofuku: Air Conditioned Seat Cushion

Kuchofuku, which develops and sells air conditioned clothing that uses almost no energy compared to conventional air conditioners, has developed the "Suzukaze" air conditioned seat cushion as its newest product. Humans generate sweat to regulate body temperature, and the new air conditioned cushion uses this inherent body temperature regulation function and the minimal amount of energy necessary to power a fan in order to provide the ideal cooling level for humans.

"This Kouchou Cushion features a new material inside called the super spacer which has the strength to support the person's weight and the shape of each spacers is specially designed to bend flexibly. If you place a soft cushion beneath it, it can transfer the softness of the cushion to the body. The continuous air flow traveling from the fan through the grid of spacers allows for a person to sit comfortably with no build-up of sweat or humidity within the cushion. "

When the small fan that is built into the cushion rotates, over 170 liters of air per minute is sent into the cushion, thus dissipating the heat and moisture accumulated around the buttocks. The cushion weighs only 261 grams, and because of this lightweight design it can be easily rolled up and carried around in compact form. Another attractive feature is that the cushion is very economical. Even if the cushion is used every day for 8 hours a day, the monthly electricity fee is less than 5 yen, or 5 cents.

Plica concept smartphone

A smart design which easily doubles the LCD real estate which is much needed on smartphones. Currently, the iPhone offers a whooping 3.5" LCD w/ 480x320 in resolution. Imagine if you had a phone with two of the same LCDs, thats a combined resolution of 480x640 at 7". Not to much some LCD manufactures can crame in more pixels per inch giving us a reasonable expectation of SVGA resolution that doesn't require the squint of the eyes.
