Philips has demonstrated a new Xenium handset at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The Xenium 9@9j involves an interesting idea of an AAA battery backup. There is a slot for an AAA battery in the bottom. The technology called Backpower comes from an Israeli company Techtium. The 9@9j seems to be the first handset to have it inside. A representative of Philips carried out a demo with the Energizer rechargeable battery. Reportedly, the phone can last for 3 hours of talks and is expected in stores in April 08.
